About The Course

The challenging, yet fair “Pace Aware” facility first opened for play in 1924 and the course was architecturally redesigned in 1998 by Ken Killian. The current layout has 5 tee locations, 10 doglegs, 4 well-placed water hazards and 52 grass or sand bunkers on 168 beautifully manicured acres.

The 6,000 square foot clubhouse which opened in 2003, features a complete well-stocked, well-staffed Pro Shop. The facility also contains a sports bar and a restaurant serving breakfast and lunch daily. The restaurant can seat up to 150 and is available for weddings, reunions and banquets.

Hole-By-Hole

Hidden

Hole #1

This 382 yard slight dogleg left par 4 requires a slight draw to set up your 2nd shot. The green slopes from back to front. Leave your approach shot below the hole.

Hole #2

This is a slight dogleg right. At 336 yards, a tee shot, hit to the left side of the fairway, will allow for the best approach. Avoid the bunkers, both right and left, with your approach.

Hole #3

Be aware of the pin position on this 176 yard, par 3 hole, as the green is 33 yards deep.

Hole #4

This par 5 hole, at 512 yards, provides a landing area that is guarded by 2 fairway bunkers. The second shot will give you a view of the fairway below and the pine forest backdrop. A well placed 3rd shot should be below the hole.

Hole #5

This newly redesigned 377 yard par 4 offers opportunity and challenge. Fit your tee shot between the new fairway bunkers and attack the pin with a wedge. Remember, this green slopes from back right to front left.

Hole #6

This 441 yard, #1 handicap, par 4, dogleg left hole, features Out of Bounds along the left side and severely lipped bunkers at the dogleg. A draw down the right center will serve you well. Big hitters, aim over the right side of the fairway bunkers. A long, to mid iron must carry the front bunkers and be directed to the pin placement.

Hole #7

This is long par 4 plays to a yardage of 414. A well struck drive down the left center is required to avoid the multiple fairway bunkers. Approach shots will to navigate 3 green side bunkers guarding the green. The green slopes from back left to front right.

Hole #8

This picturesque 186 yard, par 3 hole, requires a forced carry over water or a well placed shot past the lateral water hazard on the right. A putt from above the hole could be costly.

Hole #9

This is a par 5, 533 yard hole. This wide green is guarded by a water hazard and a beach bunker, making it difficult to reach this par 5 in two. The best strategy here is to lay up at the 100 yard marker, leaving a short approach.

Hole #10

This 451 yard par 4 hole, is tree lined and plays longer because of the depression in front of this green. A fairway wood, or long iron to the front of the green will provide for an uphill putt, chip or pitch.

Hole #11

Aim left of the right fairway bunker for the shortest route to this dogleg right 395 yard par 4 hole. The green side bunker on the right is taken out of play when the tee shot is placed on the left. Take aim at the pin as this is a monster green.

Hole #12

Reach back and swing. This long 209 yard par 3 plays uphill to the green and generally a club longer. The severely pitched green calls for an uphill putt or you will be in trouble.

Hole #13

This 494 yard par 5 requires a drive aimed at the water tower in the distance, while negotiating the visual intimidation of the new 2.2 acre pond added on the right in 2020. Aim your 2nd shot to the right side of the fairway to avoid the fairway depression on the left. Your 3rd shot will require accuracy to avoid the sand and fairway mounds. This two tiered green can be dangerous.

Hole #14

This par 3 can stretch out to 195 and is the signature hole at Hayward Golf Club. The hole requires a forced carry over water from tee to green. The wide but narrow green will test your skills.

Hole #15

This north woods dogleg left par 5 hole, plays 511 yards and requires an accurate drive down the middle. The tree lined fairway, from the tee, requires accuracy to the green with your lay-up as far left as possible.

Hole #16

This 285 yard par 4 hole, is a short dogleg left that offers the option of carrying the trees on the left toward the green or a well placed wood or long iron directed at the fairway bunkers on the right. The challenging green requires an approach from below the cup, unless the pin is in zone 3 or 6.

Hole #17

This wonderful 395 yard par 4 hole calls for a drive placed to the right of the lone Norway Pine in the fairway. An accurate drive will leave a mid iron from the fairway plateau to a smallish green surrounded by trees.

Hole #18

This is a par 4, 386 yard hole. This challenging uphill dogleg left par 4 can be played by aiming right of the left fairway bunker. Lay-up or go for it, as your 2nd shot must avoid the water hazard guarding this undulating green. The depth of this green requires a lofted shot toward the pin location.
