We are very happy to let everyone know that our fall bunker and tee project has concluded its major work!  We know this resulted in some inconveniences down the stretch of our season, but we’re confident you’ll be pleased with these updates, particularly once we get into next season and grass starts growing again! The work was completed on budget, and we want to extend a huge thank you to Dick Kuchler and the grounds crew for their efforts in seeing it through!

Without documenting every change made on every hole throughout the course, we wanted to provide a look at a few examples just to give you an idea of the kinds of improvements that you’ll see across the golf course when we open up for play again next spring.

Hole 3 shows an example of the new sand in existing bunkers, as well as the removal of one of the front bunkers by the green:

Hole 4 provides a look at one of our new forward tee boxes, as well as a relocated bunker location:

Hole 9 showcases a newly-leveled tee box, as well as a removed fairway bunker:

Hole 13 also provides a look at a newly-leveled tee, as well as a new fairway bunker:

Hole 16 presents an entirely new bunker configuration on the right side as you approach the green:

Again, those are just a few of many changes, but they give you an indication of the scope of the project!

Also, as we enter the holiday season, we again ask you to consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Hayward Civic Corporation.  The Board has undertaken a number of projects aimed at improving the playing experience and enjoyment of our golf course; the tee and bunker project is the biggest and most recent example.  As we’ve described before, the funds donated this year will offset un-budgeted items that totaled over $150,000 in 2023.

The Board has established a relationship with the local Edward Jones office to facilitate donations of stock, in addition to other forms of gift (cash, check).  The delivery instructions for all forms of gift are included below.

We thank you all for your consideration.

Quentin Johnson,

President, Hayward Civic Corporation
