From the Hayward Civic Corporation President…

I would like to take this opportunity to update our Season Passholders and Patrons about our financial progress and several important projects that the Board has undertaken for 2023.

Through June, the course has recorded 15,835 rounds played, almost 1,700 more than last year at the same time.  Activity in the Pro Shop and Caddyshak remains at or above last year’s level.  Despite the dry weather, the golf  course has remained in excellent condition.

We are disappointed that Vantage Tag, our GPS supplier, has not been able to provide the screens for the carts as promised last fall.  Our efforts continue to look for a solution this summer.

The sand bunker project will commence the week of September 11th.  We will handle play from September through closing (10/31) as we did with the irrigation system installation several years ago.  This means we will have some temporary greens and course alterations (e.g. making a Par 5 a temporary Par 3 and Par 4).

The Board decided to take advantage of the golf contractor for the bunkers being on-site with specialized equipment to complete the long-discussed forward tee leveling.  This project will require some temporary forward tee locations.  We hope this will enhance the golfing experience for players using the forward tees.

We are pleased to also announce that Hayward Golf Course will be purchasing two Trackman 4 golf simulators that will be installed during the winter months in our dining area. These premium golf simulators were rated by Forbes Magazine in December 2022 as “Best Golf Simulator Overall.”

We are truly excited to add this capability to our golf course. Over the next couple of months, we will be putting together information regarding simulator league play for both men and women, hours of operation, and pricing for the winter season. Also, as a result, we will have winter hours for the Caddyshak.  This will allow anyone enjoying the indoor golf simulator with family and friends to be able to access food and beverages from the Caddyshak.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improving our course!

Regards,

Quentin Johnson
